Ron Downs

My name Ron Downs and I drive truck in the Portland, Oregon area, I've been making knives on and off for about four years when I have not been injuring myself.  I got interested in making knives by Greg Ryan in North Dakota and with the help of a couple of self help books, massive amounts of info from the people on the Knife List, and a whole lot of mistakes, things are coming along, slowly but surely. Currently I am using O1 and L6 steels and do everything myself.  I prefer simple designs and for handle materials, either natural wood, pakawood or micarta.   I  have sold a few knives but mostly give them away and just make them for my own pleasure and use, and I do use and abuse them.

Knives

L6 saw steel with stag handle and brass pins, overall length 6 3/4 inches.
O1 tool steel with bubunga handle and black mircarta pins, brass bolster,  file work on the spine, length 5 inches.
O1 tool steel with pakawood handle, brass guard, pins and thong hole tube, length is 8 1/2 inches.
O1 tool steel with snakewood handle and brass bolsters & pins, length is 7 inches
