Bill Luckett

I started making knives in 1975 while still in the Air Force, stationed in Fort Worth Texas. I am a part time maker, just 10 to 15 knives a year, and I currently work for American Airlines as a Ground School Instructor for Pilots on the Boeing 777.

I have always strived to make something different, wanting my knives to be recognizable as a Luckett design without seeing the name or logo. So if you like my knives then you are probably someone who likes things a little different. Each knife I make will be a little different. That's because I use no jigs, fixtures, pantographs, or milling machines in the making of my knives. They are all done free hand, that is, all operations are done while holding the part or the machine in my hands.

My primary steel for blades is Crucible 154 CM. I will use other steels as an extra cost option such as CPM 440V, 3V, and D2. I also have some access to Damascus for some blade stock.

And yes I enjoy a good imported cigar with an outstanding Australian Shiraz.

Knives

The Freedom Fighter
This is one of my more popular sub-hilted fighters. The blade measures 9 1/2 x 2 x 1/4 and is "double hollow" ground. Which means the clip area is hollow ground ( not sharpened on this model). The handle shown is Exhibition Grade Ironwood. Current catalog price is $950.00.
The Banshee
This model has some unusual grinds. The clip area is hollow ground and sharpened. The blade measures 8 x 2 1/2 x 1/4. The handle material is Exhibition Grade Bocote. Current catalog price is $900.00
The Tarantula
This model also features a double hollow grind with a sharpened clip and a double lugged guard. The blade measures 8 x 1 3/4 x 1/4. The handle material is Coco Bolo. Current catalog price is $750.00
The Night Hawk
This model is design for the "reverse grip" or "ice-pick grip". Again a double hollow ground blade measuring 8 x 1 3/4 x 1/4 with a sharpened clip. No sub-hilt is available with this model. The handle material shown is Exhibition Grade Fiddle-back walnut. Current catalog price is $700.00
