Thomas Haslinger

Still to this day, it is hard for me to identify what it is that I find so fascinating with knives and edged tools in general. The beauty of the creations of custom makers, the gleaming steel, those edges that get honed to such a perfection, that it is a pleasure to use.

I have been making knives since 1994 on a part time basis, and started making knives full time this spring. I have been offering liner lock folding knives since October 2000. The joy of creating a one of a kind knife that will last a lifetime, is represented in each in beauty, design, craftsmanship and function. I am a member of the Canadian Knifemakers Guild, which I joined in 1997.

I love to learn, to experiment and to test the blades I create. I test my blades for edge holding in the outdoors and in a professional kitchen. As a chef, I get to cut a lot of different items and evaluate the best edges for a particular job at hand. .

All the steps involved in crafting a handmade knife from the design, cutting out, grinding, polishing and fitting, are done by myself. I have a professional company heat treat my blades. The Leather sheaths I make for my knives are all hand stitched and been treated to ensure longevity and performance.
